Have you ever spent time wondering why many good people continually attract negative situations into their lives while others seem to attract nothing but beautiful situations into theirs. This concept contains power, possibility, and promise if you will use it.

You are God’s highest form of creation. You are a living breathing creative magnet. You have the ability to control what you attract into your life. There have always been small select groups of individuals who are aware of how to work in harmony with this natural law of the universe: The Law of Attraction.

This law clearly states you can only attract to you that which is in harmony with you. Everything in the universe vibrates. That is based on the Law of Vibration. That includes your mind and body. Look at your body through a microscope, it is a mass of energy that is moving and vibrating. Your mind controls the vibration you are in at any given moment. You control your mind by the thoughts you choose. No one can cause you to think something you do not want to think. This is where freedom comes in, this is also where the problem begins with most people. They permit what is happening around them to determine how they think. They have become the play-thing for outside forces.

Ninety percent of the population wish positive but think negative. Their negative thoughts puts them in a negative vibration which by law determines what is attracted into their lives. As a creative individual you will continually attract good things into your life by thinking positive thoughts and expecting the best life has to offer. You deserve it.

I don’t know about you, but popcorn is one of my favorite foods! I grew up eating popcorn and milk for dinner on Saturday nights. Back then, we popped the corn in a little oil in a 3 quart sauce pan. Whenever anyone in my family wanted popcorn, they always came to me because I was the best “popper” in the family (probably because I liked it so much!). Did you know the 6th is Caramel Popcorn Day? (National Popcorn Day is the end of January — there’s some debate as to the exact day. Some say the 19th others say whatever day the Super Bowl is on.)

Did you know that U.S. citizens consume 17 billion quarts of popped popcorn every year and eat more than citizens of any other country? That figures out to be 54 quarts of popcorn for every man, woman and child. 70% is eaten at home and 30% at theaters, stadiums, schools, etc.

The popularity of popcorn goes back to at least the 4th century in Mexico and Peru. A popcorn kernel was found dating to the 10th century in a southwest Utah Pueblo Indian ruin. In the 16th century popcorn was an integral part of the Aztec Indian ceremonies.

More recently in the United States, popcorn became very popular in the 1890s. During the Great Depression popcorn sold for 5 or 10 cents a bag and was one of the few luxuries most families could afford. Because of the sugar shortage during World War II and the subsequent lack of candy and other sweets, popcorn consumption in the U.S. tripled. It experienced a slump in the 1950s when television caused a drop in theater (movie) attendance. But it soon revived popularity when the industry started equating popcorn with TV watching. With the advent of microwave popcorn, the industry has seen a resurgence in U.S. popcorn sales of over $240 million per year.

In 1914, Cloid H. Smith founded the American Pop Corn Company and launched the first name brand popcorn — Jolly Time.

Go here: http://www.popcorn.org/encyclopedia/popvideo.cfm to watch kernels explode in super slow motion — it’s really cool. You can also learn how and why this one type of corn pops. Learn how to save, restore and pop the “Old Maids” (kernels that don’t pop)!

Now to the sweeter subject — caramel corn was invented by a German immigrant named Frederick William Rueckheim and his brother. His family in Germany was in the candy making business. They had the idea of putting molasses over popcorn and adding some peanuts and called it “Candied Popcorn and Peanuts.” It debuted at the World’s Fair in Chicago in 1893. But people didn’t like the sticky molasses, so they created a molasses coating that was crispy and dry. This secret formula is still a secret in the Cracker Jack Company to this day.

Legend has it that the name Cracker Jack came from a popular expression of that era. When someone really liked something, they described it as “cracker jack.” Rueckheim liked the term, and trademarked it in 1896. He also copyrighted their slogan, “The more you eat, the more you want.”

In 1908, Jack Norworth wrote the song, Take Me Out To The Ball Game, and with the line, “Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks” immortalized the popcorn snack. You’ve probably sung that song at the ballgame, yourself!

In 1910, coupons were included in the boxes of Cracker Jacks so children could redeem for prizes. Two years later the company started actually putting little prizes (miniature books, magnifying glasses, tiny pitchers, metal trains, etc.) into the boxes. The company slogan was “a prize-in-every-package.”

In 1918 the picture of a little sailor boy and dog appeared on the Cracker Jacks box. This was in honor of Fred Ruekheim’s grandson, Robert, who died of pneumonia at the age of eight. He appeared on the box with his dog, Bingo. In 1919, they became registered trademark logos.

If you’d like to try your hand at it, you can make your own caramel corn. Visit this website (http://www.squidoo.com/how-to-make-caramel-popcorn) for some great recipes and tips on making the perfect caramel corn.

Knowing a little bit about things we take for granted brings a new appreciation for them. Of course, people are far more important than “things.” I encourage you to take the time this week to let those you appreciate know how grateful you are for them. As my mother always told me, it’s never too late to say thank you! (And why not make some caramel corn to celebrate!)

——————————————————————————–
Quotes Of The Week
“Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value in your life.” ~Northurp Christiane

“Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.” ~Seneca

I tell you often that your life will be whatever you decide to make it. Has that sunk in, or is your brain still spewing out every reason why it isn’t true for you? Do you think I can’t possibly know who you really are. I can’t possibly know what kind of obstacles you face. I can’t possibly know what your life is really like?

Let me share a story with you.

Kemmons Wilson had it tough growing up. His father died when he was nine months old. His young mother, only 18 years old struggled to provide for her son. There were times there was so little money that they lived on a few pounds of dried butter beans for a week at a time.

What got him through those times was his mother’s love. Every night she sat her little boy on her lap and said, “You are designed for greatness and you can do anything in life if you’re willing to work hard enough to get it.”

At 14 years old, Kemmons was hit by a car. The doctors said he would never walk again. He chose to believe differently. He could do anything if he was willing to work hard enough. One year later, he returned to school – walking on his own.

Then the Great Depression hit. His Mom lost her job along with millions of others. He made the decision to quit school and provide for the woman who had done so much for him. The day he quit school, he made it his mission in life to succeed. He vowed to never be poor again.

He experienced varying levels of success over the years but he had not achieved his goal of financial success when he took his wife and kids on a vacation in 1951. He was frustrated by the shoddy accommodations available for families, and furious they dared to charge $2 extra per child. He knew it was too expensive.

His frustrating experience sparked an idea.

He would offer an alternative – a hotel people could trust that would never charge extra for children. It was a completely new concept and most people predicted failure from the beginning.

Kemmons chose to believe differently. As with any business, he experienced enormous challenges. Money was short. Many times payment was an IOU. He had to overcome one obstacle after another – choosing to believe in his success every single day.

15 years later, Holiday Inn was the largest hotel system in the world, with one of the most recognizable names in the business.

Kemmons had a belief that carried him through. “You may not have started life in the best of circumstances. But if you can find a mission in life worth working for and believe in yourself, nothing can stop you from achieving success.”

Every generation always believes all the great ideas have already been taken. There is nothing left for you. Ridiculous! Your world is brimming with possibilities. Your job is to keep your mind and heart open. Find and identify that which fills a need and ignites your passion.

Where you are in life today is not what is important. What’s important is where you plan to be tomorrow; next year; 10 years from now. Kemmons Wilson had someone who believed in him.

SO DO YOU!!

Mentor those who DESERVE it… not those who DESIRE it….

The ultimate goal of a sponsor is to create a success machine that doesn’t quit. The only way to accomplish this is to select a 4-5 people in your group to mentor for greatness. People should be chosen based on their past history of stepping up to the bat and proving they are SERIOUS about building their business. A sponsor needs to make sure these people have shown that they are worthy to being taken under his wing and and having his attention focused on their business.

Sponsors who take these people under their wing for a year and work to solidify and grow them into greatness will ultimately create an extraordinary relationship that will last a lifetime as well as a solid organization. This does not mean that the Sponsor should build it for them, as there are some things they must learn from experience. It simply means totally supporting them in all phases of their business and growth through training, building, supporting, and BEING THERE for them.

Mentoring is not for the weak-hearted, it takes effort, discipline, a lot of caring and also a ton of giving on the Sponsors part.

A Sponsor will have trying times, just like in any relationship, but they must understand that if they mentor a select few folks, they can create an enormous business, and will be maximized in this industry. And these select few will stay with them during the tough times (and there are always those).

It’s early in the morning and I have something I want to share with you. I’ve thought about this through the week, as well as laying in my bed this morning listening to the birds usher in the day as the sun lightened the horizon.

Many years ago a movement swept through America. The call went out to all who had the courage and vision to “Head West”. What a picture was drawn for them… The West is where you want to be. There is land for everyone – for the taking! Beautiful. Fertile. Opportunity for everyone. Don’t miss your opportunity to be one of the first to stake your claim!

The call went out and hordes signed up to join the wagon trains pulling out of Independence, Missouri. As the pioneers bought supplies and lined up their wagons, their eyes shone with the excitement of what would be waiting at the end of the trail. I think it fair to say not one of them had a real understanding of what lay between Missouri and the far west they envisioned in their dreams.

Can’t you hear the conversation….?

“Why, honey,” one confident husband says to his rather nervous wife, “There isn’t going to be anything to this. We’ve got a nice, sturdy wagon. We’re all together, and we have plenty of food. We’re just going to roll along the trail for a while and soon we’ll have everything we’ve dreamed of. Just think of it!”

I don’t know how long before the starry looks faded from their eyes – somewhere between broken wagon wheels and Indian attacks. Maybe it was the weevils in the flour, or the snowstorm that left them stranded in the mountains for months on end. Perhaps it was losing a child to illness because there were not enough medical supplies, or simply the fatigue that came from fighting dust, heat and long days of the grueling cruelness of the trail.

Every pioneer who started down the trail, if they didn’t die, had one of three things happen. Some gave up and turned back. Others decided they couldn’t take any more and simply built a house where they stopped. Then there were the others… the ones who made it all the way to the West.

Yes, somewhere along the way the starry look faded from their eyes…… faded…. to be replaced by determination. Broken wagon wheels; Indian attacks; weevils; snowstorms; death; fatigue; choking dust and long days. They all became daily obstacles to be endured and overcome, but at some point each person who made it simply decided nothing was going to stop them. They had left behind their former lives to go someplace new. They were going.

________________________________________

So what about you? Do you have a dream? Do you have something you’ve started, but then turned back because it seemed so hard? Or maybe you’re still on the trail, wondering which obstacle will be the one to destroy what you’ve worked so hard for.

Maybe you’re just looking at the trail, thinking, “No way. Not me. That just looks too hard.” Yet your heart yearns to go where the trail will take you.

__________________, you have a choice to make every single day. You can stay right where you are, or you can go on an adventure to accomplish what you dream of accomplishing. Not going may seem safer, but the truth is that not going will only assure you stay right where you are in your life.

What do you want? Where do you want to go? The only way to get there is to start your journey – then determine to not let anything stop you.

You can do it!

Do you ever wonder what your life is going to be like in 1 year; 5 years; 10 years; 20 years; longer? Of course you do. Everyone does.

Let me clue you into a secret that will impact your entire life if you’ll let it. Your life will be whatever you decide to make it.

You’ve got a choice to make. Today. And every other day of your life.

Let me clue you into another secret of life. Where you are in your life today is a direct consequence of every decision you have ever made.

Ouch. I know. It was pretty tough on me when I had to face this truth. I didn’t like some of what I saw – other things I felt pretty good about. I figure we might as well get this out of the way right at the beginning. I have discovered it is best to face the reality of where you are starting from before you begin a journey. It’s the only way you can know how far you have to go – or how far you have come.

So go ahead. take a few minutes (or longer) to think about these two secrets. You may discover the same kind of freedom I did. While it was tough to accept that I am ultimately responsible for whatever the condition of my life is right now – there is also incredible freedom in knowing I have the power to make it anything I want it to be. Wow!

I get so tired of people complaining about their lives. Complaining they can’t do certain things because they’re just not smart enough. Complaining they will never excel in anything because they just don’t have the talent others do. Complaining they will never make much money because no one else they know does. It goes on and on.

I hear it all the time. People selling themselves short because they simply don’t believe life will be exciting for them – they don’t believe their dreams will ever come true. As long as they believe that – it will be true for them.

Okay. did you hear that? This is another secret of life. If they believe it, it will be true for them. I didn’t say it was true. I simply said it was true for them because they have decided to believe it. That MAKES it true for them. Too bad!

Especially because the opposite is equally true. If you choose to believe in your ability to excel; to succeed; to make your dreams come true – then you will. Your decision to believe it makes it TRUE FOR YOU!

I realize you probably are thinking I’m a little wacko right now. That’s okay. I still have 364 days to help you see things my way! You wouldn’t be getting these letters if there wasn’t someone else who believes in you.

Today is a day you can use to change your life. Change the way you think about things.

Decide to believe your entire life is going to be an exciting adventure. Decide to believe you will be a success. Decide to believe today is going to be better than yesterday.

Decide and it will be TRUE FOR YOU!

Because.
Someone Belives In You

Abraham Lincoln was very concerned with character, but he was also aware of the importance of having a good reputation. He explained the difference this way: “Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.”

Put another way, your reputation is what people think of you. Your character is what you actually are.

In a world preoccupied with image, it’s easy to worry too much about our reputation and too little about our character. Building a reputation is largely a public-relations project; building character requires us to focus on our values and actions. Noble rhetoric and good intentions aren’t enough.

What we’re looking for is moral strength based on ethical principles. Character is revealed by actions, not words, especially when there’s a gap between what we want to do and what we should do and when doing the right thing costs more than we want to pay.

Our character is revealed by how we deal with pressures and temptations. But it’s also disclosed by everyday actions, including what we say and do when we think no one is looking and we won’t get caught.

The way we treat people we think can’t help or hurt us (like housekeepers, waiters, and secretaries), tells more about our character than how we treat people we think are important. People who are honest, kind, and fair only when there’s something to gain shouldn’t be confused with people of real character who demonstrate these qualities habitually, under all circumstances.

Character is not a fancy coat we put on for show. It’s who we really are.

This is Michael Josephson reminding you that character counts.
